Most fire pump systems in Australia are not designed — they are purchased. A skid arrives, gets plumbed in, and everyone assumes it complies. Melfire is one of the few Melbourne fire contractors registered to actually design fire protection services: we hold VBA Building Design (Services) Registration 100018, alongside the plumbing and electrical registrations to install and certify what we design.

Why Design Registration Matters
Victorian building regulations require fire protection systems to be designed, installed and certified by registered practitioners. In practice, many systems are specified by suppliers with no design registration, installed by whoever’s cheapest, and never truly certified. When that system fails an audit — or a fire — the gaps become the building owner’s problem.
