Five-Year Fire Hydrant Hydrostatic Pressure and Flow Testing Maintenance
According to Australian Standards AS 2419 and AS 1851, fire hydrant hydrostatic pressure and flow testing is essential every five years in Melbourne. This requirement ensures that hydrant systems remain compliant and operate efficiently for safety.
Comprehensive Testing by MELFIRE Pty Ltd
MELFIRE Pty Ltd conducts the five-year hydrant booster test with an in-house booster pump designed for this task. This specialized pump enables us to perform accurate and reliable tests in alignment with regulatory standards.
Professional Team and Licensed Fitters
Our dedicated team, consisting of in-house sprinkler testers and operations staff, provides a high-quality service experience. Throughout the testing process, we ensure that a licensed fitter is on-site to oversee and conduct the test, maintaining adherence to all compliance and safety measures.
We have invested in the latest flow testing equipment to guarantee accurate and reliable test results.
The test includes:
- Static pressure at the most hydraulically disadvantaged attack hydrant
- Static pressure at booster
- Estimated vertical elevation between booster assembly and most hydraulically disadvantaged attack hydrant
- Number of hydrants installed
- Water proves all hydrants and tag
- The number of attack hydrants flow tested at 5 L/s or 10 L/s each
- Flow rate achieved at required branch pressure at attack hydrants
- Branch pressure at a flow 5,10,15, 20,etcl/s from each attack hydrant
- Boost pressure required to achieve 10,20 or higher l/s at 700k Pa from attack hydrants
- Calculate friction loss of hydrant service pipework & fittings between booster assembly and attack hydrant
- Flow rate achieved from hydrant booster assembly feed hydrants to test town main
- Booster assembly feed hydrant supply pressure exceeds 200 kPa.
- Operation of booster assembly isolation valve
- Hydrostatic test pressure result after 1 hour duration. 1700k Pa minimum required.
