Another Welling & Crossley to SmartGen changeover, this time in Broadmeadows. The site’s original Welling & Crossley diesel fire pump controller had reached the end of its serviceable life — and with parts for these older units increasingly difficult to source, repairing it was no longer a realistic long-term option.
The Upgrade
We replaced the aging cabinet with one of our Melbourne-manufactured SmartGen fire pump controllers, re-terminated the pressure sensing and alarm wiring, commissioned new start batteries and chargers, and ran the full AS 2941 automatic start sequence — crank cycles, failure modes, alarms and all — before signing off.
