The Five-Yearly Testing
- Load test on both the diesel and electric pump sets — run under real load, not just a start check
- 10-minute flow test — sustained flow with pressures logged to verify the system still meets its design duty
- Pressure gauge calibration check — gauges are only worth what they read; every gauge verified
- All bolts tightened across the pump sets, baseframes and pipework — vibration loosens everything over five years

Fixing the Pump Room Itself
Fire pumps live or die by the room around them. This pump room had water getting in — so along with a full pump room clean, we grouted the edges of the pump room to stop water tracking in and upgraded the drain so any future water leaves instead of pooling around the equipment. Standing water rusts baseframes, corrodes wiring and kills batteries — the cheapest fire pump repairs are the ones you prevent.
